About my libraryBillie Aul & Tim Smith's books. Originally this was just our science fiction, but we've added everything, because, in the end, all our books are related to each other. We're still working on adding some of the oddball collections. Tim is still thinking about a separate account for the linguistics books.

Our rating system: (Most of the ratings are Billie's) The half stars are when we disagree.

* - no one should have to read this book
** - this book has minor redeeming features such as being an author's early work, having some useful information, or being funny
*** - we enjoyed it while we were reading it, but it's not worth reading again (or we enjoyed it when we were twelve, but it didn't stand up to our adult expectations)
**** - it's good. Given world enough and time, we would probably read it again
***** - it changed our life or it changed our thinking or we loved it so much we'll definitely try to read it again

Thanks for noticing my small mythology section. I notice you have a nice selection as well. I stumbled onto "malinablue" when I added a recent mythology book. Now there's a collection of mythology related books and definitely worth a look!

I also like some of your SF-related books, some of which I'd never heard of. I still have lots more books to add, including several on Native American mythology, but after the initial burst, I find I'm only disciplined enough to add books a few at a time.
See, I TOLD you we knew each other....
You're at the top of weighted list and I must say I like the way you have described your rating criteria.

That's very similar to how I rate books, but I hadn't quite put words to it. I plan to add my rating system to my profile when I get around to it, and I hope you don't mind if it shows your influence. :)

Like most children I did not appreciate what I had at the time! Funny how you look at things differently as you get older.

Small world: I picked up a copy of Clarke's Against the Fall of Night at the Unitarian sale on the Empire State Plaza Concourse in 2000. It has Billie's bookplate in it.
