Aug 9, 2009, 2:10pm (top)Message 1: staffordcastleTime for a new thread! Aug 9, 2009, 3:06pm (top)Message 2: gregstevenstxWouldn't it make more sense to collect the profiles of spammers in a WikiThing article, instead of posting them in conversation threads that 1) are difficult to scan through, 2) eventually get outdated so they can no longer be viewed, 3) cannot be "cleaned up" for duplicates, since people can only delete their own replies? 2> eventually get outdated so they can no longer be viewed Er, what? All threads can still be viewed, responded to, etc. They just get shuffled down to the bottom of the list. Aug 9, 2009, 6:30pm (top)Message 4: gregstevenstxSorry, I should have been more precise: they get outdated so that they are difficult to view and scroll out of the area where people actually pay attention. Despite that technical correction, my original question still stands. Wouldn't it make more sense to collect links to profiles of spammers in a WikiThing article? If you still want the "publicity" of a topic thread, one could still post conversations about the WikiThing page on here. But as a WikiThing page, you could actually make the information MORE accessible, by (for example) linking to it in your profile, or whereever else, too. Aug 10, 2009, 3:17am (top)Message 5: MarthaJeanneFor some of us 'talk' is very easy, but we aren't comfortable with WikiThing. If a WikiThing page is set up, some of us will either just keep on listing things we find in 'talk' or stop bothering to list them at all. Aug 10, 2009, 10:08am (top)Message 6: gregstevenstx5: Well, that's fair enough. I wish I had the time to be the guy who volunteers to transcribe all of the links in these conversations into a wikithing page. Regrettably, I am not that guy. Unsure if this should count as spam, but the account has no books, and seems to be a representative for a used-book dealer. http://www.librarything.com/profile/BWB_... 7> It looks like BWB_Aaron joined to be able to post a response to a specific question about Better World Books (the OP asked: Does anyone at a small library have experience with Better World Books or similar organization? Could you share your experiences with me?): http://www.librarything.com/topic/69412#... I'd keep an eye on the account, of course, to make sure it doesn't start getting used to sell books and that the owner doesn't start spamming, but so far they seem to be okay. 8> Makes sense. Thanks.
